Lloyd Gaines, the former Missouri college student who disappeared nearly 70 years ago during a landmark legal struggle against segregation, has a new title: attorney at law. The state Supreme Court on Thursday awarded Gaines a posthumous law license at the Missouri Bars annual convention, honoring the man who in 1938 successfully sued to gain admission to the all-white University of Missouri law
